Siddhagad Fort (Murbad)
Murbad, Thane
If you are looking for a strenuous fort in the Bhimashankar range, Siddhagad near Murbad is a great choice. The fort guarded the old Kalyan-Ahupe-Junnar trade route, and the walk to the summit village of Siddhagadwadi takes 3 to 4 hours. Hero stones, an old cannon, caves and a summit temple line the way, and the final citadel approach is narrow and technical. It can be attempted most of the year except in severe weather. A serious and satisfying Thane-district trek.
Why go
