Chaulher Fort
Wadi Chaulher, Baglan, Nashik district
If you are looking for a gateway-studded fort in the Baglan region, Chaulher Fort is a great choice. Also called Chauler or Chaurgad, it stands in Nashik district and welcomes you with three ornate entrance gateways on the way up. The climb takes about 1.5 hours, after which the machi, citadel and many named rock-cut water tanks keep you busy for a couple more. The top looks out over the Satmal and Selbari-Dolbari ranges. Nashik Road is the railhead, and October to February is the best season.
