Manohar-Mansantoshgad Forts
Sawantwadi, Sindhudurg
If you are looking for a twin-fort adventure near Sawantwadi, Manohargad and Mansantoshgad are a great choice. The connected forts guarded the Hanumant Ghat in Sindhudurg district, and the walk to Manohargad at 1,183 metres takes about 2.5 hours. Ruined gateways, bastions and rock-cut approaches fill the route, and Shivaji Maharaj himself stayed here for a month after the Rangana campaign. Sawantwadi Road is the nearest station. October to May covers the season, with winter the most comfortable.
