Riwa Fort (Kala Qilla)
Dharavi, Mumbai
If you are looking for a hidden piece of Mumbai's fort history, Riwa Fort is a great choice. Locally called Kala Qilla, this small British-era land battery in Dharavi was built after Siddi attacks to guard the Mahim Creek boundary. Only a single black-basalt bastion survives today, but it is a genuine remnant of the city's defensive past. Sion station is the nearest rail stop. A quick, unusual stop for anyone who enjoys Mumbai's layered history.
