Thalner Fort
Thalner, Shirpur taluka, Dhule district
If you are looking for a riverside fort with royal history in Dhule district, Thalner is a great choice. The ruined fort sits at a horseshoe bend of the Tapi River in Shirpur taluka, once a Faruqi capital on the Surat-Burhanpur trade route. A surviving high brick wall and bastions mark the site, and the Faruqi royal graves and Jamadar Wada in the village complete the visit. Allow 1 to 2 hours for both. Dhule is the nearest station, and October to February is the window.
