If you are looking for a classic Portuguese sea fort in North Goa, Fort Aguada is a great choice. Built in the seventeenth century at Candolim and Sinquerim, it guarded the Mandovi estuary with upper and lower defenses and a huge freshwater reservoir that gave the fort its name. The old lighthouse and the sea views from the Sinquerim walls are the highlights. An hour or two covers it well, and it pairs naturally with the Candolim beach stretch. November to February is the most pleasant season.
